Pastor Ted is an avid skier who enjoys the outdoors, cycling, photography, and when he has time, working with wood or crafting stories. He has a deep passion for mission as he has spent time in a variety of domestic and international mission settings. He married his college sweetheart, Becky, in 1986 and they have one son, Caleb.
Serving the people who worship at Hampton Presbyterian Church is a joy and a thrill for Ted. In his own words, “We share a common vision for ministry.”
Rev. Ryan Pixton
Associate Pastor of Youth & Outreach
Ryan loves sports and is a big Penguins fan. Outside of sports Ryan has grown in his love for board games and has developed quite the collection. Ryan also loves music, although he is not as musically talented as his wife, Debbie. In college, he and some friends had a Christian Alternative radio show on the local campus station. His favorite band is Jars of Clay.
Ryan and his wife have two daughters, Sarah and Anna.
Karen Shumaker
Director of Children & Families
A kid at heart, Karen has always thought that the “Kids’ Table" at any event was the most fun and interesting place to be. She loves that she gets to work with HPC’s kids and families and considers it an incredible privilege to partner with parents in helping kids to experience God’s love, to know God’s story, and to grow in their love for God and others.
She and her husband, Greg, have three children. Karen enjoys spending time with family and friends, listening to live music, going for walks, taking road trips, “traveling" to Sheetz for an occasional Mallo Cup, and using commas.
Kathy Sawyer
Director of Music
Kathy is a lifelong piano player and church musician who loves involving people of every age and ability in serving the Lord with gladness and coming into His presence with a song! She especially enjoys leading MAD Camps (Music, Art and Drama) and teaching people to ring handbells.
Kathy, who is an avid Syracuse University fan and her husband, Rev. Clark Sawyer, who is an avid Pitt fan, own Downtown Sounds Music Studio in Butler where she teaches piano and voice. Clark and Kathy enjoy traveling and playing golf together when they are not busy spoiling their ten grandchildren.
